2021 ended up being a strong start for HMV Mania.

Happy New Year! 🎉

We have some exciting stats to share about HMV Mania with 2021 at a close.

On December 31st, HMV Mania had:

250k total pageviews
483 videos
115 different HMV Makers

The original goal for the site was to have 300 videos and 50 different HMV Makers by the end of 2021. HMV Mania hit 50 HMV Makers September 11th, 2021 and 300 videos on November 3rd, 2021. We far surpassed those original goals end of year, and we are on our way towards 500 videos soon.

And of course, there was the goal of not having ads on the site for the rest of the 2021 year. We’ve discussed not having ads for as long as possible and there aren’t any plans to instate ads for 2022. If such an action were to take place, there would be community input first and it would receive a reasonable timeframe for people to know about. We understand how frustrating it can be when there is a video, and clicking it only to find some ad redirects you somewhere else — we’d like to keep it simple and when you click a video, you don’t get any unwanted surprises!

We’ve received suggestions from users for improvements on the site and we’ll also be doing some more reflection and research on how we can enhance the site further in 2022. This is also keeping in mind that there may be limitations that prevent us from implementing some ideas that are worth pursuing. On that note, the Goals page will be updated in the future based on feedback we’ve received and what suggestions will be considered.
