A recent poll had majority interest in having 3D content on the site.

Since its start, HMV Mania has been a 2D focused site. However, a recent poll in the discord server has shown that there is interest in also having non-2D content in a separate category.

Poll Results

Out of 27 votes, this was the resulting breakdown.

  • I would like 3D content as well ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░ [20 • 74%]
  • Don’t Care ▓▓░░░░░░░░ [6 • 22%]
  • I don’t want 3D content on the site ░░░░░░░░░░ [1 • 4%]

You can also see those results in the below image.

Your voice has been heard and we’ll be allowing 3D content on the site in a separate category. Real life content is still not allowed.

3D Category and First Release

On July 6th there will be three 3D based videos that will release along with the one 2D base release video. 3D videos will be in their own category separate from the HMV category, and 3D is a subcategory under HMV in the left menu sidebar. Until the July 6th release, this category will have no results.

Site Stats

HMV Mania hit 1.5 million pageviews on July 2nd, 2022. June 2022 was the first month to average 10k pageviews per day.

The site also now has over 1,100 videos as of now.

HMV Guidelines Update

Because 3D content is now allowed and in its own category, the guidelines also received an update. Please be sure to look at the updated guidelines when submitting a video for consideration on the site.

A Note on Suggestions

Three commonly mentioned suggestions are genres, playlists, and downloads.

For genres, we have a starting point of 17 genres although the way our current theme handles genres is a separate taxonomy that is different from what a usual WordPress theme would do. This will require more investigation on how to properly implement and deploy genres. Note that genres are different from video categories; we already have hmv, amv, and 3d as of now.

For playlists, you may have noticed when you open a video, #/?playlistId=0&videoId=0 gets appended to the end of the url. From what we found looking into this a bit, playlists have to be made through Elementor from someone with the appropriate permissions in our current WordPress theme. This is not ideal for users who want the freedom to create their own playlists. There doesn’t seem to be a good answer for this problem right now, although we wanted to be transparent about how we have looked into this topic before.

For downloads, we tried to incorporate a Download button into a video post but it got stripped out. We also would like to provide download functionality in the future, although we’ll need to look more into how we can accomplish this given the trouble we’re having with other elements being stripped from a video post.

We can look into some of the suggestions that are given by users, although we can’t guarantee we can satisfy them even if they seem like nice ideas. As frustrating as it is, we need to work with the limitations of our theme. Remember your voice matters, and we’ll treat constructive feedback with respect. It’s part of our mission statement.

    nice work!
I want to classify HMV composed of CG in HMV.
I would like CG content in their own category separate from the HMV category.
CG like (DMM) games or another painter’s works.

      Hi qq2296672316,

Those could probably fit under genres when they are implemented.
