Happy New Year! With 2024 over we have some stats to share along with site updates.
Overview of 2024
Overall, 2024 was a good year and some important improvements to the site happened. An unfortunate event was losing access to the stats we had on Jetpack.
We continue to remain ad-free and provide an entirely free streaming experience, and we introduced a new site mascot in 2024!
Site Stats Update
From May 2021 through start of May 2024, we used Jetpack for site stats. This was nice as Jetpack was just an integration with WordPress.
However, we lost access to Jetpack after 3 years of using it and had to switch over to Google Analytics for site stats. We have reason to think it was a targeted report, although that type of speculation isn’t going to move us forward. We’ll have to stick with Google Analytics from this point on.

2024 Site Stats Recap
We only have data from May 2nd, 2024 through December 31st, 2024 from Google Analytics after the switch from losing access to Jetpack. This is approximately 8 months.
In the time period of May 2nd, 2024 through December 31st, 2024 this was the stats overview of the site:
- 13,234,680 pageviews
- 4,083 videos (+1,567 new videos from last day of 2023)
- 724 unique creators*
- 1,175,320 Visitors
*note there might be a small number of duplicate creators (e.g. alias). This is the number from October 27th, 2024.
For this data timeline we can simplify the math to 8 months, and 30 days per month:
– 13,234,680 / 8 = 1,654,335 views per month.
– 1,654,335 views / 30 days = 55,144 views per day on average.
AV1 re-encoding effort
We have a site post explaining the AV1 re-encoding effort that occurred in the summer (a two month period from late May 2024 going into the start of August 2024).

Release Frequency and Plans
1,567 new videos means 1,567 / 365 = 4.293 videos per day, meaning we started introducing days where 5 videos would be released. When planning for future space and bandwidth on the server, we generally try planning for an average release rate of 4 videos per day, which we went a bit above.
Due to how releasing 5 videos per day can happen more frequently over time, we calculated current server stats based on a 4.5 release rate per day average (meaning many 5 video release days) rather than 4.293 calculated above for a fudge factor. We estimate given current trends that the current server has a safe amount of space available until May 2026 for videos, or about 2,166 more videos with the average size we calculated with the new AV1 conversion format.
Video and Creator Milestones
HMV Mania reached 4,000 published videos on December 15th, 2024. As of January 5th, 2025 there are 4,108 published videos. A select few videos may be duplicates.
HMV Mania also reached over 700 creators in 2024.
HMV Makers List Page Overhaul
In 2024, the HMV Makers List page got redone to be a table listing of creators along with known aliases and some of their links if available.
Google Analytics Data
Based on Google Analytics data from May 2nd, 2024 through December 31st, 2024 the top five regions of visiting users were:
- United States: 409,641 visitors
- Japan: 156,846 visitors
- Germany: 118,966 visitors
- China: 92,281 visitors
- Canada: 69,258 visitors
Views per month fluctuated from 1.5 million to 1.75 million. Recent trends average around 1.7 million pageviews per month.
Devices of visitors were categorized as the following:
- Mobile: 54.46%
- Desktop: 43.12%
- Tablet: 2.42%
Martoise
You may have noticed when you search “Martoise” in search engines such as Google, many of the results are from HMV Mania. This is because Martoise does not have a public archive of his videos. In July of 2023, Martoise announced he would delete his mediafire archive and recommended saving the videos.
After the release of 07DELI TELECAST 01 in September 2024, Martoise made his Twitter account private and he has a procard link and blog link with instructions for getting access to a private server. Or at least, that’s what is known as of now.
In said discord server, there appears to have been a specific rule about not sharing videos with HMV Mania. It’s possible more videos have been released by Martoise after September 2024, although we’re not sure.
Everything known from Martoise up to September 2024 is on-site. With respect to any releases that have happened after that, it’s a black box.
Genre List Page
A Genre List Page was started. We figured out a starting point for this considering the site’s limitations, and the discord server has a channel for suggesting genres or what genres to add to video(s).
