You can find the 2022 Goals on the Goals Page.
This thread is meant for discussion and progress updates on goals.

1. Have information about content creators’ pages.
The Resources Forum can help with this. There is currently a thread for iwara creator pages.
March 27, 2022 at 5:29 am #3849hmv uploaderKeymasterGoal:
3. Favorite Videos and Playlists.
This is dependent on the WordPress Theme we’re using. It looks like there has been a placeholder the developers have put in place as every video you visit gets appended with “?playlistId=0&videoId=0” at the end, but there are no playlists as of now.

4. Have a way for users to suggest video tags.
In this case, this actually refers to Genres. Users can request Genres for videos in the Suggest Genres for Videos Here thread.

6. HLS Streaming at different bit rates.
It turns out that with the current site’s infrastructure, different bit rates will not be available. However, HLS streaming may be possible but it will just be at the best quality available only.
March 27, 2022 at 5:56 am #3852hmv uploaderKeymasterGoal:
5. Provide a way to download videos.
This is a frequently requested feature. As of right now there is no official way to download a video on the site, although this is something that can be discussed with the backend team further.
March 27, 2022 at 5:58 am #3853hmv uploaderKeymasterGoal:
8. Allowing for longer videos.
HLS Streaming will allow for this, but the videos themselves will only be available at the source resolution available.
March 27, 2022 at 5:59 am #3854hmv uploaderKeymasterGoal:
2. More Tags, Genres.
There is a difference between Tags and Genres. Tags will be the main categories for the Videos. Currently the two Tags on the site are amv and hmv.
Genres will be what further classifies content in videos. This should be coming in the near future.

7. Making the site more self-serve for creators.
A creator can provide everything for a video post per the guidelines mentioned in the For Creators page, except for the video on the site itself.
This statement is still true: “The problem with having this encoding occur on the site itself is that it is very resource intensive. For now, authors just provide the link to the original video to be standardized.”
There might be a creative solution for this that doesn’t require standardized encoding of the videos on the site due to how resource-intensive encoding is.

9. Site Speed and Storage
As of March 27th, 2022, the site receives around 5k – 6k pageviews a day on average.
As of March 27th, 2022, roughly 60% of the current server space is being used for the site. The current server will be used until at least May 2022. Site stats will be monitored to see how site traffic changes in the coming 3 months to see if a server upgrade should happen. But in terms of space, we’re set for a while, close to the end of year even.

10. Non-2D HMVs.
Likely something to revisit as the site gets closer to 1,000 videos. If it were to be on the site, this content would also be its own category to separate from the 2D HMVs that are the focus of the site.
There will still be the policy of no IRL content allowed (i.e. no PMVs).
